John Lopez, a sculptor, was born and raised in Western South Dakota. He had a successful career as a bronze sculptor before discovering the art of scrap iron sculpting. His career path shifted direction after the death of his beloved aunt, Effie Hunt. After her passing, Lopez moved to his now widowed Uncle Geno Hunt’s ranch.

The texture of the pieces is John’s favorite part. He said that welding a lot of the same type of pieces together makes a fascinating texture.
